This 5 day non-residential advanced course is for those wishing to skipper a boat on longer coastal passages or working towards taking the MCA/RYA Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster Offshore Exams.

The course topics include: advanced navigation, tides, tidal streams, position fixing, buoyage, lights, rule of the road, meteorology and is examined on following elements:

• Advanced navigation techniques.
• International Rules for the Prevention of Collision at Sea.
• Meteorology.

Students are shown how to interpret this knowledge and information to formulate passage plans.

On successful completion of the course a shorebased certificate RYA/MCA Coastal Skipper & Yachtmaster Offshore is awarded.
